Rotherhope Fell

Introduction

Rotherhope Fell is not actually in Weardale. It's situated on the Cumbrian side of Alston village, nestled below the Hartside summit road. Not much left now, but a dam, and the entrance, blocked and full of water. A 400 foot internal shaft lead from the adit level to the fabled flats in the Tynebottom Limestone from where the best pieces came.
